School of Music

Welcome from Dean Koponen

Welcome, from the School of Music at Nyack College.  Whether you want to study music on “The Hillside” at the Rockland campus overlooking the iconic Hudson River, or at the Manhattan campus at the tip of the island in Battery Park, Nyack College offers highly respected music degrees taught in a loving, Christian environment.

Here on the Rockland County campus (Nyack, NY) we offer degree programs in Music Performance, Music Education, Music in Worship, Composition, and the Liberal Arts Music degree.  We also offer minors in music and music business.

Nyack College School of Music on the Rockland campus is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), and our various degree programs are founded on the study of classical music from its earliest beginnings to its most contemporary forms.

$1,000 Ensemble Scholarships are available for eligible incoming full-time students who audition.  All incoming students who audition prior to the cut-off date in March will be considered for “call back” to the Annual Invitational Music Scholarship Competition.  Awards for the competition range from $4,000-$10,000 yearly.

Performing opportunities are numerous for musicians at Nyack College, and students are encouraged to participate in recitals and concerts as often as possible. Our location in the New York Metropolitan area enables our students to attend outstanding performances at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Broadway, Metropolitan Opera, and many cathedrals and churches.

I wish you God’s best in all of your endeavors and trust that the Lord will direct your plans for college music study.

Sincerely in Christ,

Dr. Glenn Koponen, Dean
