Nyack 2006 alumnus, Emerson St. Pierre, (pictured above, far right) a pastoral ministry major and a Spiritual Formation worship team keyboardist, is currently a member of the Atlanta, GA-based band, Rudy Vaughn, who recently won the Hard Rock Café’s Ambassadors of Rock Battle of the Bands. The prize? They will open for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Neil Young, Dave Matthews Band, and others at a musical festival, "Hard Rock Calling," on June 27 in Hyde Park, London.
In addition to Emerson, members of the band include Nathan Cooley, Shane Hulsey, Dan Bauman, and Rudy Vaughn. More than 150 bands from across the nation entered the competition, which was narrowed down to five finalists. The battle for the coveted Ambassadors of Rock spot began with two rounds of playing live and one online contest where supporters could view a video and then cast votes. Internet voting ended on June 7.
Home base for the five members is 12 Stone Church, pastored by Rev. Kevin Myers in Georgia’s Gwinnett County where they play at all three contemporary worship services. Just one year ago, the musicians and singers met at 12 Stone Church and began performing together.
Quite a leap from their previous schedule of performances at birthday parties, restaurants, clubs and churches in the metro Atlanta area...Rudy Vaughn is a new name for music lovers to listen out for.
