John K. Hanna (Ď 04), a Pastoral Ministries major, passed away on January 22, 2005 as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident after leaving work on January 13. When the accident occurred, John was en route to pick up his girlfriend, Amy Gauthier, a senior at Nyack College. Because of low visibility due to foggy weather conditions, he slammed into the back of a truck. John never regained consciousness and went home to be with the Lord this past weekend.
Born in Egypt in June 1970, Johnís family came to the United States when he was three months old. He graduated from high school in 1988 and later became a Wall Street stockbroker. Responding to the call to ministry, John earned his bachelorís degree at Nyack College and graduated in May 2004. He also completed an internship at Jacksonville Chapel with Matt DeLorenzo, where he had joined the staff as a Counseling Pastor.
The funeral service will be held at noon on Tuesday, January 25 at Saint Maryís Coptic Orthodox Church of East Brunswick, 433 Riva Avenue, East Brunswick, NJ. Plans for a memorial at Jacksonville Chapel are also underway.
